BLACKPINK Unveil Cryptic Teaser; BLINKs Think An Online Concert Is Coming Soon! – Entertainment

Gather around Indian BLINKs, there’s an update coming in from your favourite K-pop girl group. Blackpink dropped a fresh teaser video today. The video is titled Blackpink – Around the World alongside the caption “Coming Soon!” and the fandom has theories.

The short clip features a montage of launch timings and location coordinates for major cities including Seoul, Paris, Sydney, Jakarta, London, Istanbul, even Mumbai, India among others. The teaser is backed by music from ‘How You Like That’, announcing Blackpink “in your area” in typical Blackpink fashion. It ends with a visual of the globe with a jewelled crown and the sounds of rousing applause. While the video comes with no context whatsoever, there’s rife material for speculation here and fans think an online concert is coming soon.

Blackpink is fresh off the success of their first studio album ‘The Album’ that released last month. If the mysterious teaser really does precede an online concert, it will be their first Livestream since the smashing comeback we witnessed not long ago. Fans are expectedly freaking out but the reactions over the addition of locations on the diverse list, especially Brazil, Mexico and India is absolutely precious.

The quartet has been on a record-breaking spree since the beginning of the year. They made their Billboard debut with ‘Ice Cream’ and the tracks music video crossed 400 million views on YouTube this month. Before that, ‘How You Like Thar’ broke several Guinness World Records as the most viewed YouTube video (music video and music video by a K-pop girl group) within 24 hours (86.3 million views). Furthering the hype around The Album’s release, Blackpink were seen in Netflix documentary Blackpink: Light Up The Sky that offers an unfiltered behind the scenes look at the group’s career, their recording process and more. The band was also announced as Variety’s Group of the Year 2020.

It remains to be seen whether the teaser really is for an online concert and what becomes of the locations left off the list in the teaser.
